Meet MMH’s Newest Board Member: Shonta’ Greenwood

We are absolutely thrilled and deeply grateful to welcome Shonta’ Greenwood to the Minds Matter Houston Board of Directors! Bringing over two decades of experience in driving operational excellence and building high-performing teams, Shonta’ is a proven leader whose passion for education and mentorship perfectly aligns with our mission. We are incredibly fortunate to have her guidance and dedication as we work together to empower the next generation of changemakers.

Born near New Orleans and raised right here in Houston, Shonta’ discovered her drive for leadership early on as high school class president and an accomplished athlete. She went on to earn an electrical engineering degree from Prairie View A&M University, where she remarkably balanced captaining the basketball team and maintaining the highest GPA among college athletes. Her determination didn’t stop there—Shonta’ later played professional women’s football, helping lead her team to two World Championships as a starting running back!

Today, Shonta’ lives in the Pearland area where she loves spending time with family and friends, discovering new restaurants and matcha cafés, and staying on the cutting edge of technology by expanding her knowledge of AI.

Her commitment to leveling the playing field for our students is deeply personal. Shonta’ believes strongly in creating opportunities to unlock their potential—values that align perfectly with Minds Matter’s mission to bridge resource gaps and prepare students for success. As Shonta’ beautifully puts it:

“Potential is universal—opportunity is not. Let’s change that.”

Please join us in extending a heartfelt welcome and thank you to Shonta’. We look forward to the incredible impact she will make on our community!
