Dear Minds Matter Houston Community,

As the new Executive Director, I am thrilled to connect with you at the beginning of this academic year. It's an exciting time for Minds Matter Houston, and I'm deeply grateful for the incredible energy of our students and volunteers. This fall, we've experienced a lot of leadership changes, and many of our leaders who have served for years as mentors have now stepped into new roles, ready to continue guiding our students and strengthening our program. We want to extend a sincere thank you to the volunteers who have completed their service; without their unwavering commitment and passion, we could not have achieved our mission to empower our students.

Welcoming Our New Class

We are thrilled to welcome a new Sophomore class of students and mentors this fall! This growth is powered by the unwavering commitment of our entire Minds Matter community, who consistently show up and devote 4.5 hours of their Saturday to our program. Every Saturday is not just about hard work; it is about building a supportive community where learning is both productive and fun. During these sessions, our students receive comprehensive support, including SAT prep, writing instruction, one-on-one mentorship, and crucial guidance on financial aid and college applications. Our sophomore class will also be navigating a new Social Emotional Learning curriculum with their mentors, which will help them build resilience and key life skills.

As a 100% volunteer-led organization, we are proud to allocate over 90% of our annual budget directly to our students. This funding covers not only our essential Saturday programs but also the life-changing summer experiences that broaden their horizons and build their skills for the future.

Fueling Futures, Together

Your generous donations are the cornerstone of this success, and we're excited to announce our first-ever fundraiser, "Fueling Futures," on Saturday, October 18th! With increased funding, we can continue to scale our impact and empower even more young leaders. The event will feature a silent auction, raffle prizes, and a special guest speaker.
