About Minds Matter Houston
Minds Matter Houston is the locally funded, volunteer-led affiliate of the national Minds Matter organization, which has grown to 14 chapters nationwide since its founding in 1991. Since 2017, we have served the Houston community by providing a unique college readiness program for dedicated, low-income high school students.
Our students commit to a rigorous 3-year journey from sophomore to senior year, built on three key pillars:
Core Academics: Reading, writing, and critical thinking-based curriculum + SAT test prep.
Social-Emotional Learning: Mentoring focused on personal/professional growth and practical skills.
Experiential Summer Program: Residential summer immersion experiences at universities across the US.
Our Impact: Participation is free for students. While the local college enrollment rate in the wider area is 38%, MMH students maintain a 100% 4-year college enrollment and graduation rate.
The Role: Director of Saturday Programs
As the Director of Saturday Programs, you are the heartbeat of our weekly operations. You will oversee the delivery of our curriculum, manage a team of dedicated volunteers, and ensure that our Saturday sessions are high-energy, high-impact environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership: Oversee the weekly execution of Saturday programming.
Team Management: Lead a small team of volunteer direct reports and oversee the Session Leads responsible for curriculum delivery.
Data & Excellence: Implement systems for capturing key data, including attendance and National KPIs (SAT improvements, financial aid, and college acceptances).
Technology & Resources: Manage the student portal (Google Classroom) and ensure all volunteers have the resources needed to succeed.
Strategic Collaboration: Participate in bi-weekly Core Leadership Team (CLT) meetings to drive cross-team collaboration.
Who You Are
A Proactive Leader: You take ownership, solve problems on the fly, and enjoy motivating a team.
An Efficient Organizer: You have great time management skills and an eye for detail.
A Communicator: You enjoy connecting with a diverse range of people in both 1:1 and group settings.
Mission-Driven: You believe that a student's zip code should not determine their destiny.

Professional Network: Join a network of like-minded professionals and leaders across the Houston area.
Resume Growth: Gain high-level executive leadership experience within a national non-profit framework.
