Are you a driven 10th-grade student looking for an incredible opportunity? We encourage interested students to apply at the beginning of their 10th-grade year to join Minds Matter Houston!

Our program provides high-achieving, low-income students with the mentoring, resources, and support they need to gain admission to and succeed in four-year universities.

Key Dates for the 2025–26 Academic Year:

  • Application Due: Friday, September 5

  • Interviews: Friday, September 13

  • Offer Letter: Friday, September 20

  • Program Start Date: Saturday, September 27

  • To join Minds Matter Houston, incoming students are required to submit an application starting in August of their 10th-grade year.

    Your application package will consist of:

    • Short answer questions

    • Writing samples

    • Recommendation forms (from teachers or mentors)

    • Nomination forms (from school counselors or administrators)

    • A guardian application

    We encourage you to start gathering these materials early! You'll find all the necessary forms and detailed instructions on our website.

  • After you submit your application, our Student Recruitment Team will review it carefully. Qualified applicants will then be invited for an interview. This interview is a chance for us to get to know you better, understand your aspirations, and assess your commitment to the Minds Matter Houston program. It's also a great opportunity for you to ask us questions!

  • Our selection process is highly competitive, designed to identify a pool of truly dedicated and talented young adults. We look for students eager to commit to their academic journey and personal growth.

    You'll be notified of your admission decision in the week following your interview.
