MIT x MMH

The national Minds Matter organization, as a vital part of the college access pipeline, gives our Minds Matter Houston students access to some of the best colleges in the country. Thanks to our organization’s relationship with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts (and the high caliber of our students) we were able to host a MMH/MIT recruitment event for our students during a Saturday Session in October!

We were honored to host Carlos Vega, Ph.D. from MIT Admissions. This visit created a powerful two-way opportunity: our students heard advice directly from an admissions expert at one of the country's best schools, and MIT was able to raise awareness about their generous financial aid and programs with a targeted group of academically gifted, low-income scholars. Especially for our Juniors interested in STEM majors, this was a unique opportunity to discover how attendance at a top-ranked university could be more within their reach than they imagined. At MMH, we want our students to dream big!
